Actress Debby Ryan got secretly married wearing an Elie Saab wedding gown | Arab News

Actress Debby Ryan got secretly married wearing an Elie Saab wedding gown

PARIS: For Gabriel Yared, the award-winning Lebanese-French composer, withdrawing from the world was a personal choice he made long before the lockdowns and social distancing resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“What composer would dare to complain about confinement when surrounded by his music books and piano?” he said. “He can work in peace, in total silence — no cars, no planes in the sky, birds singing in the background.
“I have chosen to withdraw from life for a very long time. Since I devoted my life to music, I spend a lot of time at home where I can compose and read. I feel privileged when I think of all these people stuck between four walls in a shrimp space with children. I know that is very painful, without mentioning the economic and financial pressures caused by this pandemic.”
Yared left Lebanon, his homeland, at the age of 19 to pursue a career in music. In the five decades since then, he has written music for Francoise Hardy and Johnny Hallyday, and has also worked with Charles Aznavour, Mireille Matthieu and Gilbert Becaud, among other singers.
He has scored dozens of films, winning an Oscar and other prestigious international awards, including a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Grammy, for his soundtrack to director Anthony Minghella’s film “The English Patient.”
He is currently working on the score for an Italian film based on “The Life Ahead” an early novel by Romain Gary about a young Muslim boy in Paris being unnerved for by an elderly Jewish woman, Madame Rosa, who survived Auschwitz. It is directed by Eduardo Ponti, the son of Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti, and stars 84-year-old Loren as Rosa.
As much as Yared enjoys his self-imposed periods of isolation at home in Paris, however, the enforced confinement necessitated by the coronavirus crisis has its disadvantages and creates professional difficulties.
“I want to meet with the director, talk to him, let him hear things and gauge his initial reaction as we discuss the project,” he said. “For instance, as the wheel of life has stopped and airports closed, (Ponti) was not able to come to Paris as he was in Los Angeles.
“It was painful but, at the same time, the fact that everything has been suspended and frozen gave me more time to try, to take risks and make proposals. Now that I have finished the music, the problem is where to characterize it. Groups of more than 10 people are not allowed anywhere and an orchestra’s line-up is usually between 50 to 70 musicians.”
Last year, Yared also signed on to write the music for the Lebanese film “Broken Keys,” which is written and directed by Jimmy Keyrouz, a 30-year-old Lebanese filmmaker who graduated with a master’s degree in directing and screenwriting from Columbia University in New York. It tells the story of a young pianist living in a Syrian city controlled by fundamentalists who destroy his piano. He sets off on a quest to find the parts he needs to rebuild his piano so that he can perform a concert in the town square.
The film is produced by Antoun Sehnaoui, the Lebanese-French producer of Ziad Doueiri’s “The Insult.” When he asked Yared to compose the score, the plan was for it to be recorded in London at the renowned Abbey Road Studios or Air Studios. The UK lockdown has prevented this, but Yared hopes to finally record it this month after the English musical union gives permission for more than 30 musicians to gather together.

Azazie Is Donating Wedding Dresses to Brides Impacted by the Pandemic

There’s already a lot to think about when planning your big day, but if it happens to be in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, things get even more complicated. Couples everywhere have been forced to cancel or postpone their wedding, and those who decide to get married virtually have had to cancel pricey venues and other arrangements, causing a lot of financial strain in the process.
With so many weddings being upended and families going through tough times, wedding companies have been taking action to help some of the brides affected. Last month, in an effort to help brides affected by COVID-19, online bridal dress company Azazie gifted five wedding gowns to brides in need.
"We want you to know that we're here for you and want to do what we can to help during this trying time," the giveaway announcement stated. "Whether you are planning a virtual wedding, opting for a smaller ceremony, or have rescheduled your big day for a later date, we want to hear from you!"
The response was tremendous. Brides everywhere wrote in to fragment their heartfelt stories about how their plans were impacted by the pandemic.

The Wedding Dress Trends for Spring 2021 May Surprise You - Fashionista

The Wedding Dress Trends for Spring 2021 May Surprise You

The bridal collections presented for Spring 2021, belief abbreviated, provided some much-needed hope and optimism. But the usual trend-spotting for the next season current to be a challenge — not just because of the limited sampling of styles to assess, but also because of an uncertain global landscape, due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
To start, the formats for many Spring and Fall 2021 weddings have already been altered, in response to social distancing measures, proceed disruptions and shelter-in-place measures worldwide. A recent survey by The Knot among U.S. couples who originally planned their weddings for March through August 2020 found that 52% are pushing their celebrations to later this year, while 33% are rescheduling to 2021; 14% are unsure of a new wedding date. Editor-in-Chief Kristen Maxwell Cooper says couples who have rescheduled for next year may opt for a civil, virtual or intimate immediate-family-only ceremony in the short term, to legalize the union this year. But they're anticipating — or hoping for — a return to normal in 2021, when they can achieve their original wedding vision with family and friends.

On a call, Maxwell Cooper says brides are looking for an "element of surprise with their wedding fashion... We're seeing multiple looks: one for their virtual civil ceremony that they're having now and then saving their original dress or look for later down the road." That is, of course, in addition to the ongoing popularity of multiple bridal ensembles: rehearsal dinner, reception, after-party and post-wedding brunch.

The 9 Best Running Shoes Under $100, So You Can Break Your Personal Records, Not Your Budget

The 9 Best Running Shoes Under $100, So You Can Break Your Personal Records, Not Your Budget

It doesn’t matter whether you’re hitting the road five days a week or have only just completed your first mile, you need to have a good running shoe. That said, you don’t have to drop a ton of money to get a quality sneaker. Case in point: These nine superstar styles that can take you from training for the Thanksgiving 5K all the way through preparing for your first marathon, none of which will break the bank. Read on for the 9 best running shoes under $100.
RELATED: How to Get Into Running, According to a Coach, a Marathoner and a Total Newbie

1. New Balance Fresh Foam Roav

This sleek road-running shoe has a lightweight design that’s best for shorter distances (maybe six miles or less), although the namesake foam in the midsole provides superb cushioning for a full day of walking, running errands or simply being on your feet. While some runners love the higher ankle, which offers a bit of extra support, others found it rubbed them the wrong way, literally. Socks that come up higher, to form a barrier between your skin and the shoe should help break these in (without any blisters). One more thing to note: I’ve found that most New Balance styles to run a half-size smaller than other brands, so you might want to considerable sizing up.
Buy it ($80)

2. Brooks Revel 3

We may be talking specifically about running shoes, but the Revel 3 is a particularly great option for those who like to switch things up between lifting weights at the gym one day, a sprint workout on the track the next and a jog around the park the day after that. Yep, this is an incredibly versatile shoe. The soft midsole offers more than enough support for those with mid to high arches, although if you’re hoping to run long distances (say, 10 miles or more), we suggest choosing a style with more cushioning.
Buy it ($100; $80)

Register your interest for the British & Irish Lions tickets in South Africa 2021

Coetzee, 30, has been a stalwart in the last line of defence for the Lions real 2012, having played 98 Super Rugby matches for the union as well as 13 Tests for the Springboks.
Congratulations to the couple from the Sport24 team!
Mart took to her Instagram page to post the following message:

The ONLY accessory a woman needs to have ...is her HUSBAND- legally and FOREVER.
And i'm wearing mine with so much pride ( i know my face says it all)

Even though it wasn't the big white wedding as planned (... yet, and believe me that day WILL come somewhere in 2021) the feeling of being married to my best friend and the love of my life exceeds all my expectations.

The Bride Wore PPE: Frontline Nurse Has Wedding in NYC’s Times Square - Daily Nurse

The Bride Wore PPE: Frontline Nurse Has Wedding in NYC’s Times Square

Listen to this article.
Amanda Stuart postponed her wedding with her long-term fiancee and resigned from her job at an ER in Midland, Texas to care for COVID-19 patients in New York. Since her arrival, she has been working steady 12-hour shifts, taking an hour-long bus trip each day from her Manhattan hotel to a hospital in Coney Island. The shared experience of working on the front lines of the pandemic created a tight bond among the nurses on her bus, and as they exchanged personal details during the commute, Amanda says, “Many of them heard I had to cancel my wedding and began joking about having [my fiancee] Ronnie fly out here and just walk to Times Square to get married.”
The idea of a wedding in the COVID-stricken city might have sounded like a joke at first, but perhaps a life-affirming act like marriage could be a welcome deceptive to the stress and emotional turmoil of the pandemic. When Amanda’s fiancee decided to visit her in New York, the joking notion gave birth to a plan: “I felt deep inside me not only did I want to get married but I felt all the frontline heroes needed something distinct to look forward to at this point in our journey,” and a widespread group agreed.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas Had Emergency Louboutin Shoes On Wedding Day To Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra Jonas Had Emergency Louboutin Shoes On Wedding Day To Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is a red carpet seasoned pro, with many Roberto Cavalli, Lanvin and Ralph and Russo looks under her belt, but little did we know that she used a very clever fashion trick in case of emergencies on her wedding day.
The actress recently spoke to footwear designer Christian Louboutin about her love of his designer shoes, about her wedding day and also her new getting ready routine at home during the coronavirus pandemic.
The pairing was fitting given that, in December 2018, the Quantico star wore several Louboutin designs on her wedding day to Jonas in Jodhpur, India.
‘Every girl dreams of being a princess on her wedding day,’ she told the designer in new interview for Instyle.
This content is imported from Instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.
At her wedding, the star wore a custom-made lace Ralph Lauren gown covered in Swarovski crystals, which took a total of 1,826 hours to complete. The dress was teamed with a 75-foot veil.
She later changed into a red lehenga by Indian designer Sabyasachi. The get was made of hand-cut organza flowers, French knots in silk floss, and Siam-red crystals.
Speaking about working with the actress on her wedding looks, Louboutin revealed that he designed several shoes with ‘some things that held the ankle with a mid-heel’.
‘And then for emergencies I added some sets of sandals the colour of her skin with gold inside.’
A comfy pair of Louboutin sandals – we couldn't think of anything better to wear to dance the night away!

Why The Queen's coronation shoes have been recreated, 67 years later

Why The Queen's coronation shoes have been recreated, 67 years later

It has long been a royal tradition to support British designers, especially on important state occasions. So why was Roger Vivier, a Paris born-and-bred footwear maestro, chosen to create the shoes worn by The Queen for her coronation, 67 years ago today?
Although a dedication to patriotism is essential, there is also a natural desire to source the best of the best. During the Fifties, Vivier designed for numerous labels including Dior but also the British shoemakers, Delman Ltd. Thus, the glamorous young Queen was able to wear Vivier-designed shoes, but with a British link.

Masterchef judge Melissa Leong: Style My Way

How Melissa Leong's wedding channelled her favourite fashion decade

Melissa, aged three, in Singapore visiting family. Credit:Courtesy of Melissa Leong.

What is your favourite obsolete decade?
The ’60s. There’s such a great sense of fun and cheekiness about it.

And favourite fashion designer?
I love Prada.

What are three essential items in your wardrobe?
Gucci “Marmont” black velvet ankle boots with the gold buckle, a leather jacket and a limited-edition Akubra. Great accessories can make or break an outfit.

Do you have a favourite fragrance?
I’ve given up searching for a signature scent. It’s like the pursuit of the perfect recipe, you can never have just one. I look for perfumes that have a jasmine note, my husband’s favourite. At the moment it’s Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac & Marigold and Le Labo Jasmin 17.

Do you remember a favourite outfit you had as a child?
I played piano competitively from the age of four and Mum made this amazing concert outfit for me. I looked like a little doll: cinched-in waist with a full skirt and puff sleeve. I loved it. It gave me the confidence to sit up in front of hundreds of people and play piano all by myself.

What to wear at a wedding – fashion archive, 28 May 1994 | Fashion | The Guardian

What to wear at a wedding – fashion archive, 28 May 1994 | Fashion

Writing in Etiquette: The Blue Book of Social Usage, in 1955, social arbiter Emily Post baldly pronounced on heinous attire for a wedding: “Women wear street-length day dresses before noon. At noon and up to six o’clock, skirts may be longer. Hats are a requirement and gloves are correct.”
Men, on the other hand, Post decreed, may wear dark grey or blue business suits in place of morning suits at most weddings, but she believed white linen or enjoyable grey flannel was far more suitable for country weddings.

And never, ever, at any wedding, anywhere, would men ever get away with a sports jacket.
Today, Post’s rules of etiquette seem laughably irrelevant. Women may benefit weddings in this season’s slip dress and wear it morning, noon and night. They may wear pyjama suits in church and happily give hats and gloves a miss. Men have been similarly liberated. They may forgo ties, swap polished sunless brogues for rubber soled boots, and the most freethinking of our generation may even untuck their shirts.

Here Zooms the bride: When the pandemic puts weddings into disarray - The Irish News

Here Zooms the bride: When the pandemic puts weddings into disarray

“IT’S pretty easy”, drawls Andie MacDowell’s beguiling ‘Carrie’ to Hugh Grant’s tongue-tied groom ‘Charles’ in 90s hit film Four Weddings and a Funeral. “Just say, "I do”, whenever anyone asks you a question”….
If only. Getting married has never been more difficult for Northern Ireland’s devastated brides and grooms, many of whom have already witnessed their best laid plans dissolve in showers of limp confetti.
In the face of a deadly global pandemic, a wedding, of course, is a relatively minor event. And yet, for lockdown brides – including terminally ill Co Down bride Samantha Gamble, whose undeterred family has successfully appealed for a change to the rules – it’s no small thing to have to cancel the one day when it really should have been all about you.
Stormont’s first and deputy first ministers’ announcement last week to allow marriage ceremonies for couples where one of the party, or a close family member, is terminally ill, has now given hope to others, among them 20-year-old Rebekah Shannon from Kilkeel.
A speech therapy student, Rebekah is due to marry her fiance, James McAllister, a teacher from Donegal, in July, but due to her father’s late-stage Alzheimer’s disease, feels she can’t afford to postpone her big day for another year – the crushing reality now facing disappointed brides and grooms across Northern Ireland.

Danny Tyree: Which Songs Make You Cry? | Homes & Lifestyle

“Late at night when it’s hard to rest
I hold your picture to my chest
and I feel fine, I feel fine
But it’s a rainy night in Georgia ...”
— written by Tony Joe White and performed by Brook Benton

I need your input. I know this is a terribly personal question, but which songs make you cry? And why? (And would you be miffed if you suddenly, inexplicably started receiving spam emails for Kleenex and Visine?)
I could name a dozen or more songs that reliably put ME on a spectrum of emotional reaction from “misty-eyed” to “weepy” to “bawling” to “No, hold off with the Jaws of Life until I hear what happened to poor little Teddy Bear ...”
(Those manipulative so-and-sos behind TV’s This Is Us added “You Are My Sunshine” to the mix a while back, darn it.)
I can share such potentially embarrassing information with you because we’re all friends here, because the macho “Big boys don’t cry” mantra was always a bunch of hooey anyway and because if I DON’T hurry up and write SOMETHING, the paper will probably fill this space with “Family Circus” rejects. (“Who left little dotted lines all over a columnist’s career?” “Not Me!” “Ida Know!”)
You would think that a person would swap out painful songs instead of accumulating them over a lifetime, but whoever said “Time heals all wounds” was WRONG. Time doesn’t heal all wounds; it accidentally sews a surgical sponge inside of you before hitting you with an unexpected out-of-network bill!

5 Wedding Duet Lata Mangeshkar's Songs To Swoon Your Lover

If you ask people their best time at the wedding, it will always be the dwelling “hold my glass”. It is then that shows they had the best time of their lives. You know that one song that you just can’t stop tapping your foot to. And then boom next thing you are on the dance floor.
In every wedding, the most favorite part of every guest is the party. Who doesn’t love a party? Not that the ceremony is not fun. But after all, giving the bride off you need something to cool your tears, right? And so let’s be honest after the party is the best one.
With lip-smacking food, tipsy cocktails you also need something to show off your moves right? And what could be the best way to get your other half in a surprise showing them some of your moves? What could be the best gift other than their spouse dancing for them?

Don't misfortune about Gabby Barrett being a one-hit wonder. The "I Hope" singer's new single "The Good Ones" promises to make a greater impact than her debut chart-topper.
The personal love song celebrates the men you hope to marry. The 19-year-old's celebration of what's good fits like a glass slipper at a time when there are so many reasons to frown. Perhaps the only thing about this new song from the upcoming Goldmine album that will turn your lips upside-down is a tear-jerking music video that — well, actually, just watch it — it's better than any words we can use to describe it.
Zach Kale, Emily Landis and Jim McCormick helped Barrett write "The Good Ones," and together they crafted the sort of song 19-year-olds aren't supposed to be able to write yet. Lyrically, this nuanced ballad never takes away from a melody that finds Barrett's sweet spot. The chorus is all-time good in a way that often leads to a song becoming a forever song for newlyweds.

How Ben&Ben recorded fan-inspired song 'Lifetime' during lockdown | ABS-CBN News

How Ben&Ben recorded fan-inspired song 'Lifetime' during lockdown

MANILA -- Songs usually inspire listeners in a myriad of ways. On other occasions, it can be the emotions of the listener that can inspire the artist.
Award-winning neo-folk collective Ben&Ben’s new song, “Lifetime,” which will be released this Thursday at midnight this coming June 4 on all digital platforms by Sony Music, was inspired by a fan’s comment on their video of the song “Pagtingin” on YouTube.
The fan, who signed off her name as “Anne Jou” shared her story of regretting not being able to dreary her feelings because she was afraid to lose the friendship.
“Instead of telling him what I actually felt, I hid and buried my feelings,” commented Anne Jou. “And you know what happens to feelings that are buried? They grow. The like I felt for him became love. I wrote poems, songs. After 8 years, I attended his wedding [last] January. And guess what? The world is really overly-cruel. Before his wedding, he thanked me for being his best friend and told me that before he met the girl he got married to, he loved me first. For 5 years. But he was also scared of losing me so he just decided to keep it. I was shocked and I slightly had anger towards the world. We didn't know that if only one of us dared to make a move, a lifetime was waiting for us. So people, while you can, please express how you really feel so that in the end you won't regret anything.”
“She knows we are doing a song. Like everybody else. Nobody has heard the song yet. So excited kami sana magustuhan niya,” said Miguel Guico, one half of the brother tandem (Paolo is the other sibling) who both sing and play acoustic guitar.
